Top Envoy Visits Mayor Siafa …Highlights Potential Investment Here

MONROVIA: Potential avenues for investment, business collaboration, and strengthened people-to-people relations were among the key highlights when the newly accredited Ghanaian Ambassador to Liberia, H.E. Godwin Baletum Amonzem, paid a courtesy visit to Monrovia City Mayor, John-Charuk Siafa, on Wednesday, February 4, 2026.


Receiving the Ambassador at his office, Mayor Siafa described the visit as a significant step toward deepening the long-standing relationship between Ghana and Liberia at the city level.

The meeting focused on exploring practical areas of cooperation that could benefit both Monrovia and Accra through trade, cultural exchange, and investment partnerships.


Ambassador Amonzem noted that the visit was in keeping with diplomatic tradition, describing it as “greeting the owners of the grounds.”

The Ghanaian Envoy emphasized his commitment to building a cordial and productive working relationship with the Mayor’s office to promote stronger people-to-people interaction, encourage business and investment collaboration, and advance other areas of mutual interest between the two countries; Liberia and Ghana.


The Ambassador further highlighted the importance of local government engagement in diplomacy, noting that, cities play a critical role in driving economic and social connections that translate into national development.

Mayor Siafa, in response, welcomed Ambassador Amonzem warmly and reflected on the historic and friendly ties that have existed between Ghana and Liberia for decades.

Mayor Siafa expressed confidence that the relationship between Monrovia and Accra can grow stronger through sincere and coordinated efforts by leaders at both the municipal and national levels.

The Monrovia City Mayor also pledged to enhance the participation of the Ghanaian community residing in Monrovia in the affairs and developmental activities of the city through close collaboration with the Embassy.

As part of efforts to foster inclusion and cooperation, Mayor Siafa extended an open invitation to Ambassador Amonzem to participate in key programs and activities of the Monrovia City Government, including the upcoming Monrovia Day Celebration.

The visit signals a promising start to renewed engagement that could unlock fresh opportunities for investment, cultural exchange, and urban partnership between the two West African capitals.
